William Francis "Butch" Byard, Jr., 65, of Wheeling, WV passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his home. He was born February 13, 1958. He was the son of the late William Byard, Sr. and Goldie Renshaw Byard.
He was retired from the West Virginia National Guard and a Catholic by faith. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by three sisters Goldie, Marie, and Rebecca and one brother, David; nine nieces and nephews; Stephanie, Jonetta, Christina, Deanna, Robert, Kevin, Amy, Ricky, and Brendan, and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews.
During his service with the National Guard, he participated in several deployments including Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
His decorations include: National Defense Service Medal, O/S Ribbon, WV Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2).
Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors.
