Jay Paulus, 68, of Wheeling passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2023 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Wheeling, son of the late Wilfred J. and Phyllis (James) Paulus.
Jay was a retired optician and member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and worked part time at Yahn Electric. He enjoyed his boat at Seneca Lake, but his passion was his grandchildren and attending their many events.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his In-laws, William and Sarah Schnupp.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marianne (Schnupp) Paulus; children, Jocelyn (George) Czapp, Kurt (Nichole) Paulus, Nathalie (Jimmy) Murray, Andrew (Stefanie) Paulus; 11 grandchildren, Garrett, Eli, Sarah, Melah, Julia, James, Mackenzie, Holden, Hallie-Jaye, Brooks, Wesley; 2 sisters, 1 brother and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday August, 27, 2023 from 2 - 7 pm and Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277-2722). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 28, 2023 at 10 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1508 Warwood Ave., Wheeling.
Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
