Paul "Skip" Skiba, Jr., 77, of Wheeling, WV passed away peacefully Saturday, August 12, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Paul was born November 28, 1945 in Wheeling, WV, to the late Paul Sr. & Louise Jewett Skiba.
Paul was an Army Veteran, a mechanic, and a coal miner, but spent most of his adult life as an outstanding auto body technician while also serving as the dedicated sexton of First English Lutheran Church, for more than 30 years. He was a kind, easygoing, funny, and tireless worker who always thought of his family first.
Left missing him are his wife of 54 years, Loretta Thompson Skiba, of Wheeling, WV; 2 sons, Noah (Caitlin) Skiba of Lansing, OH and Jesse (Dani) Skiba of Wheeling, WV; the light of his life, his 2 granddaughters, Mia Ellis and Tai Skiba; his 3 sisters, Mary Lou Morgan of Wheeling, WV, Janice (Denny) Hancock of Shadyside, OH, and Carol (John) Carpenter of Shadyside, OH; and 1 brother, Tom (Judy) Skiba of Boston, MA; and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
As per his wishes, a celebration of his life was held several weeks ago, and there will be no service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Cards can be mailed to 10 Bae Mar Place Wheeling, WV 26003.
