Esther Marie (Oelschlager) Gamble, 88, of Glen Dale, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Peterson Hospital, surrounded by her daughters.
Esther was born on June 25, 1935 in Glen Dale, WV. She was the fourth of seven children of the late Theodore and Wilhelmina (Mikus) Oelschlager.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Larry" Gamble; her son, Jimmy; sister, Ruth Porterfield; and brothers Jimmy, Theodore, and Frederick Oelschlager.
Esther was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at the former Ohio Valley Medical Center. In her younger years, Esther was an avid swimmer and talented seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved pets, Brownie and Mr. Kitty.
Esther is survived by her four daughters: Shelly (Bob) Tuskey, Sherry Gamble (Gary), Cindy Gamble (Dennis), and Amy Gamble; a niece whom she raised, Bonnie Porterfield; four grandchildren: Natalie Perry (Jeff), Ashley Tuskey (Ray), Lauren (Matt) Leuders, and Richard Doney (Anastasiya); sister, Willa Chlon; brother, Sam Oelschlager; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at St Mark's Lutheran Church, in Wheeling, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11am, with the Reverend Paul Schafer officiating.
