Laura Alice Hopkins Criss, 90, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Forest Hill Healthcare in St. Clairsville, OH.
She was born May 26, 1933 in Toledo, OH, daughter of the late Laura Bloomfield Harroun Hopkins and Benjamin Edwin Hopkins.
On August 18, 1958, Laura married Cecil M. Criss, Jr. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Toledo, OH.
Laura had a BA Degree in History and Sociology from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH and a MS Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
She was a Librarian at the Toledo Public Library, Purdue University Library, the University of Vermont and St. Philip's Episcopal Church School Library. She was a volunteer for the Miami Dade Schools and at her church.
Laura was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Coral Gables, FL. She was also a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Ohio, the American Library Association and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marsh Hopkins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Cecil M. (Sharon Beth Brannon) Criss III and Laura Anna Mary Criss (Robert Gordon) Papp; six grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher and Ariela Papp and Matthew, Elizabeth and Angela Criss.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
