Marjorie Irene Pauley Higley, 97, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Limestone, NY and Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully Monday, September 11, 2023 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born September 29, 1925, daughter of the late Albert and Blanche Moore Pauley.
Marjorie was the former secretary at the Fern Creek Methodist Church in Louisville, KY and worked at Corning Glass Works in Bradford, PA. She was a member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle L. Higley, Sr.; daughter, Judith Higley; two brothers, Lawrence and Lester Pauley; sister, Lillian Wood; and half brother, Emil Moore.
She is survived by her son, Lyle L. (Tami) Higley, Jr.; six grandchildren, Theresa, Judy, Angela, Michelle, Christina and Joseph; 11 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Edward (Beverly) Higley; sister-in-law, MaryLou Higley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM and Friday, September 15, 2023 from 9 AM until the time of service at 10 AM with Pastor Debra Dague officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311).
Interment in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elm Grove United Methodist Church, 125 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 or to Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Ln., Wheeling, WV 26003.
