Peggy Jane Smith, age 85 Wheeling, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital, Wheeling.
She was born January 14, 1938 in Peterstown, WV, daughter of the late John E. and Gladys Turpin Ferguson.
Peggy was a former legal secretary at McKee & Hollandsworth Law Office and the Hollandsworth & Moses Law Office. She was a longtime member of the Elm Grove Eagles and the Eagles Card Club. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and her great-grandson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Douglas M. Smith, Jr. and one brother: Edward L. Ferguson.
Survivors include one son: Michael (Dannie) Smith of Wheeling; six grand- children: Allison (Chase) Byrne, Michael (Kristin) Smith and Brendan, Declan, Liadan and Madigan Smith and a great- grandson: Wren Byrne.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:00am until 10:30am at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/ Wheeling.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00am at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 690 Mt. Olivet Rd., Wheeling with Fr. Joseph Augustine as celebrant.
Entombment in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
