Selma Margaret (Butzke) McKenzie, 99, of Wheeling, died on Wednesday September 20, 2023 in Liza's Place.
She was born April 11, 1924 on a farm near Canova, SD, daughter of the late, John and Lizzie Butzke.
Mrs. McKenzie went to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She worked at the New Veterans Hospital until she married her late husband John W. McKenzie and moved to West Virginia. Selma loved her church and was an active member enjoying Bible Study and quilting.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Selma was preceded in death by a brother Lorenz Butzke; sisters, Delila Koepsell, Leona Petersen, Rosie Froehlich and Florence Torba.
Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey Douglas McKenzie, Sr. and his wife, Francine of Triadelphia, WV, and William John "Bill" McKenzie and his wife, Kathryn of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Thomas F. and his wife, Stephanie, Lauren R. and her fiancee Mike and John W. and his wife, Cas; three great grandchildren, Liam, twins, Riley and Logan: twin sister Velma and her husband Arthur McKenzie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens was private for family. Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave, Wheeling (304-277-2722).
