SHERMAN BERTRAND JR.

Sherman "Sonny" Bertrand Jr., 84, of Moundsville, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1939 in Moundsville; the son of the late Sherman Bertrand, Sr. and Evelyn Wallace Bertrand.

He was a former employee of United Bank and U.S. Stamping, an avid horseshoe player, U.S. Army veteran, member of Simpson United Methodist Church and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Bertrand; four sisters, Betty Novel, Marilyn Wallace, Patty Kawasaki, Shirley Conkle; and two brothers, Frank Gary Bertrand and Challen Bertrand.

Survivors include four children, David (Ruth) Bertrand, Ed (Debbie) Bertrand, Katherine (Alan) Wells, Tammie Varlas; seven grandchildren, Lacey, Tyler, Kyle, Megan, Kristin, Samantha, and Eric; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Henry, Lilly, Alivia, Zayde, Baylee, Brendon, Lane, Skylar, Blaze, McKinley, Greyson, Maddox, Waylon, Carson, Kaylynn, Peyton, Brantley, and Easton; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends of Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sean Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville; where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct Military graveside services.
