Steven Douglas Ross, age 60, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, WV
He was born December 18, 1962, in New Martinsville, WV to John and Grace (Kruger) Ross.
Steve retired from Wetzel County Schools as a math teacher. He was a graduate of West Virginia Tech, and a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a coach for high school girls track, and girls' basketball at Paden City and Magnolia High Schools. Steve attended Faculty Senate and was an avid stamp and coin collector. He enjoyed making stained glass, gardening, scuba diving, and doing photography for the New Martinsville grade school yearbook. He loved traveling, playing cribbage and dancing with reckless abandonment.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Karen Sue (Williamson) Ross; and his two dogs, Stella, and Piper.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 - 4 pm and 6- 8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where services will be held Saturday at 11am with Pastor Sean Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, WV.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia High School Girls Track Team, 601 Maple Ave., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
