William L. "Bill" Bird, 72, Friendly, WV, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at his home.
Born in Charleston, WV, on October 18, 1950, he was the son of Nona Shamblin Bird and the late Glenn "Mick" Bird.
He was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School, retired from Union Carbide Construction and retired from the Carpenters Union. Bill loved farming, cattle, his dogs, and was a die-hard Mountaineer fan.
Survivors other than his mother includes his wife of 36 years, Penny Damron Bird; three children, Scott Bird, Brian (Mary Anna) Bird, and Buffy (David) Carper; seven grandchildren, Hayley, Ryan, Hallie, Matthew, Willa Grace, Pierce, and Haley; four brothers, Daniel "Harley" (Cindy) Bird, David "Squirrel" (Pam) Bird, Steven "Moose" (Jeannie) Bird, and Michael "Clyde" Bird; one sister, Becky (Mike) Sholes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.
