Donna Jo Bohrer Cain, 90, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Morgantown, WV.
Donna Jo was born on December 2, 1932 in Proctor, WV; daughter of the late Robert W. and Sadie E. Yoho Bohrer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Paul E. Cain; two brothers, Tex Robert Bohrer and George Howard Bohrer; and five sisters, Roberta Dallas, Mary Lorentz Rothlisberger, Deloris Jean "Tump" Emch, Ruth Bohrer and Lalae Bohrer.
Donna Jo was a devout member of the Steelton Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, retired cook for Wetzel County Schools, former lab analyst for PPG Industries, former employee of Duerr Jewelers, served on the Proctor election board, and a 1949 graduate of Magnolia High School. In high school, she played the baritone horn in the Magnolia Marching Band where she graduated high school at the age of 16.
Donna Jo lived for her family. A proud and true matriarch of the Cain family. She loved spending time with her family and she loved her children and grandchildren. Above all, she enjoyed and took great pride in cooking and baking for her family. Many memories have been shared over the years in her home enjoying the wonderful meals she prepared. Donna Jo was a Magnolia Blue Eagle and WVU Mountaineer fan. She attended many football games over the years with her husband, Paul. She will be remembered most as a devout Christian, loving mother, sister and friend, an excellent cook, and as a beloved and irreplaceable "Mommom."
Survivors include her three sons, Don Cain of Proctor, WV, Dr. John Cain of New Martinsville, WV and Joe (Barbara) Cain of Proctor, WV; brothers-in-law, Gene Emch of New Martinsville, WV, and Joe Parish of New Martinsville, WV; sister-in-law, Laura Lee Aberegg of Hundred, WV; eight grandchildren, Justin Cain of Morgantown, WV, Dr. Andrea (Blaze) Cain-Rogers of Morgantown, WV, Lindsay Cain of Morgantown, WV, Nick (Ashley) Goddard of Proctor, WV, Erin (Josh) Lemasters of Proctor, WV, Eliza (Mason) Rine of New Martinsville, WV, Chase (Mykal) Cain of Morgantown, WV, and Grant Cain of New Martinsville, WV; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Ava, Bowe, Lukus, Alyssa, Raegan, Brynlee, Emy, Evy, Tate, Indie, Myla and Aizlyn; special great-great nephews, Bobby and Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV, where service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023 with Ed Melott officiating followed by burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
