Holden, E. Elizabeth (Barnard), 98, of Wheeling died on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Liza's Place.
Betty was born March 4, 1925, in Morgantown, WV daughter of the late Sara Reiner Barnard and W. Oliver Barnard.
She graduated from West Virginia University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa. She retired as the financial secretary of Vance Memorial Church and was an Intelligencer newspaper carrier during her retirement, which added to her healthy life and longevity. Betty was a member of Vance Memorial Church and the Redwood Twig and former Sarah Brittingham Circle of The King's Daughters. She enjoyed trips to the seashore, tennis, her cats, reading, and happy times and laughs with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Attorney David B. Holden, her daughter Jennifer, and her brother William O. Barnard Jr.
Surviving are her son, David B. Holden, Jr. and his wife Nancy; three grandchildren, Todd (Lindsey), Molly, and Jacob Holden; two great grandchildren, Blake and AJ; nephew and several nieces.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 10:30 am until the time of service at 12:30 pm with Rev. Dr. William G. McCoy officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242- 2311). Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
