GABRIEL SELLA

Gabriel Eugen Sella, 75, of Wheeling, passed away on September 10, 2023, at home.

He was born on May 10, 1948, in Bucharest, Romania, son of the late Daniel and Berenice Ertzan Sella. Though he eventually called West Virginia home, his journey included stops in Israel, Italy, and Canada.

He earned degrees from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University), McGill University, Johns Hopkins University, and his medical degree from the University of Pavia. In addition to practicing family medicine in Ohio and West Virginia for over 30 years, Dr. Sella researched, presented, and published extensively in the field of biofeedback. His work has helped countless people recover from injury and manage pain without drugs or surgery. In recognition of these contributions, Dr. Sella received an Honorary Doctorate from West University Vasile Goldis in Arad, Romania and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB).

Gabriel was a member of the Temple Shalom, in Wheeling, WV. He proudly wore his red fez as a member of the Osiris Shriners.

Surviving are his two sons, David Sella-Villa (Meredith), and Victor Sella-Villa (Michelle Levinson); one sister, Roxanna Druckman (Meshulam); four grandchildren, Max and Frances Sella, and Luca & Rafa Sella-Levinson; and the mother of his children, Nicoletta Villa-Sella.

A memorial service followed by a bereavement meal will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 am at Temple Shalom, Wheeling, with Rabbi Joshua Lief officiating.
