John David Palimetakis, 93, of New Bern, NC, died Monday, October 2, 2023.
He was born April 30, 1930 in Windsor Heights, WV, son of the late John and Julia Palimetakis.
John was a 1948 graduate of Wheeling High School. In the same year, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for four years in the Aleutian Islands. He later attended Elliott Business College, worked at OVMC for 30 years, and retired from McGhee Office Supply in Wheeling. John was an avid Steeler fan and a diehard Mountaineer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Gregory Palimetakis and Vickie Clem; sisters, Katherine Augeen and Athena Bontos; and brother, Pete Dormas.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Palimetakis; son, Daniel (Luana) Palimetakis; granddaughter, Emma Clem (Kevin and the late Vickie Clem); niece, Valerie Lakios; and nephew, George (Linda) Dormas.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 2 PM – 8 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722).
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, will be held at the convenience of the family.
