Kay is survived by four of her five children: Mark Robert Dzmura (Vicki Maldovan), Lucas Noach Dzmura (Mel Jeffcoat), Rebecca Jean Dzmura (Rob) McEwan, and Matthew Dzmura; her seven grandchildren: Maria Dzmura, Katherine McEwan, Andrew McEwan, Elias Dzmura, Elizabeth Dzmura, James McEwan, and Laszlo Dzmura; her three step-grandchildren: Damien, Samuel, and Elijah Cameron; and one beautiful great- grandchild, Ariana Osuna-Dzmura.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. A. Robert (Bob) Dzmura; her son, Thomas Andrew (Tom) Dzmura (Dawn), and her two sisters, Patricia McIntyre Stearns and Barbara McIntyre Ray.
Kay was born in Altoona, PA, in the early morning of November 14th, 1932. She was the middle of three daughters of the late Kermit (Mac) and Thelma McIntyre, and was raised in Altoona with her sisters. She graduated from Altoona High School, then attended Indiana State Teachers College, ultimately graduating from Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., with a Registered Nursing degree.
Kay and Bob married in September 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, while Bob was studying osteopathic medicine. The couple later resided in Detroit, MI, Moundsville, WV, and Benwood, WV, ultimately settling in Wheeling, where they chose to live and to raise their five children. Bob opened the Benwood Medical Clinic in Benwood, and practiced family medicine there for 32 years. In addition to her responsibilities in child rearing and homemaking, Kay worked as bookkeeper for the clinic.
Kay was a life-long, inveterate reader, enjoying particularly the mystery and suspense/ adventure genres of fiction. She was a music lover, especially of the "great American songbook", and she loved to sing her favorites, with true pitch and a pleasing tone. She was most recently a resident of the Welty Home on Washington Ave., where her favorite activities were solving crossword puzzles and cryptograms, building jigsaw puzzles, and playing word games and bingo with her fellow residents.
Kay will be greatly missed by her children, relatives, old friends, and by her good friends in the Welty community.
