Michael Cooper Daugherty, 45, passed on into eternity on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on February 24, 1978, to Elizabeth Cooper Daugherty and Ronald Paul Daugherty in Wheeling, WV.
Michael is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents. Surviving are the light of his life, his daughter, Mattie June Daugherty of Winston-Salem, NC; his parents, Ronald and Elizabeth Daugherty; sister, Caroline Daugherty; aunt and uncle, Jane and John Lewis; niece Ruby Whipkey; numerous extended family members, and many friends.
A high achiever in school, he graduated with honors from John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, WV, Wake Forest University in NC, and LeCordon Blue Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. He went on to enjoy a rewarding career as a professional chef.
Michael's capacity to love was one of a kind and he was full of grand ideas for expressing his love for his daughter, Mattie. More than anything he was a devoted Dad who loved to play with his daughter. There will be a tremendous hole left by Michael's absence for all of us who knew him, but most especially for Mattie.
Celebration of Life Services were held in Winston-Salem, NC on Oct. 8th at East Texas Restaurant, as will as in Portland OR, where he lived and worked for several years.
Services and inurnment will be held at the Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum on Oct. 14th at 2pm, with a fellowship dinner at 3:30pm at the Washington Lands UM Church.
