PEGGY BLATT

Peggy Jean Blatt passed away peacefully on her 94th Birthday in the presence of family members, Monday, October 9, 2023.

She was born October 9, 1929 in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Frank and Luella Kaufman Saunders.

Peggy was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, spending many years as a faithful servant at Edgewood Lutheran before moving to Grace Lutheran following their merger. She was actively involved in all aspects of church life locally as well as nationally and globally. A longtime favorite as the "Craft Lady" at Camp Luther, many came to know her and to maintain long term relationships. She worked on various committees for the local Synod as well as the National Synod. She made mission trips to partner Synods in locations like Madagascar and Mexico, where she forged relationships that lasted a lifetime.

In her professional career as a seamstress, she designed and produced numerous wedding gowns and other formal attire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert "Bobby" Blatt, they are now reunited in God's House; and sister, June Saunders Beckett.

Peggy is survived by her three sons, Scott (Cathy) Beckett of Westerville, OH, Ed (Judith) Blatt of Christ Church, New Zealand and Drew Beckett of Wheeling, WV; 10 grandchildren, Terry Miller, Joshua Beckett, Andy Beckett, Ben (Carrie) Beckett, Joy (Aaron) Linkiewicz, Anna (Mike) Candler, Rhys Blatt, Amanda Beckett, Kasey Beckett and Andrew "AJ" Beckett; and 10 great-grandchildren, Corban Miller, Gabe Miller, Aniston Miller, Juliet Miller, Isaac Miller, Morgan Roberge, Xavier Blatt, Aidan Chandler, Evan Linkiewicz and Cooper Linkiewicz.

Friends and family will be received Monday, October 23, 2023 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Rd., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-232- 2732). Services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16 Ridgecrest Rd., Wheeling, with Pastor Tim Spence officiating.

Interment to follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, WV.
