SARAH RUSSELL STOTTLEMYER

Sarah Ellen Russell Stottlemyer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, in Riverside, California. Born on May 15, 1945, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Sarah lived a full and vibrant life characterized by her loving nature, friendly personality, and passionate spirit.

Sarah is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Dr. Keith Dean Stottlemyer, and their three cherished children, Eric Keith (Monica) Stottlemyer, Erin Renee (Evan) Gold, and Ryan Christopher (Erin) Stottlemyer. She was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Frankie, Ethan, Lillian, Sutton, Russell, Madison, and Nolan, who were the recipients of her boundless love, generosity, and concern. Sarah's brother, Robert Daniel Russell, also survives her.

In her early years, Sarah attained her associate's degree in dental hygiene from West Liberty State College. Her true calling, however, was her family and home. Known for her impeccable taste in fashion and decor, Sarah always left home dressed to the nines and created a warm and welcoming environment wherever she made a home. She was an excellent homemaker and host, always ensuring her guests were well cared for and comfortable.

When her husband Keith joined the military, Sarah embraced the role of military spouse. Over the course of 20 years, they lived in seven homes in six states, corralling kids and relocating with consummate energy and attention to detail. She was a dynamic woman, wearing her emotions on her sleeve, and her life was a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and unwavering love for her family.

Sarah was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated over 33 years to the Assistance League of Riverside, serving in various capacities as president, board member, and volunteer. Her passion for service extended to her various roles as an active member of the Air Force Officers' Wives Club and docent for the Mission Inn in Riverside. These commitments show- cased her dedication to her community and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Throughout her life, Sarah loved to travel. Together with Keith, she traversed almost the entire globe, with her favorites being Africa, Russia, and various European river cruises. She passed this love of exploration on to her grandchildren, presenting each with a certificate on their tenth birthday that allowed them to choose a trip to any destination within the continental US for a memorable adventure with her and Keith. These seven trips were among her most treasured memories, allowing her to forge a close and personal bond with each grandchild.

Sarah was well known for her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Her friendly, outgoing, and inquisitive nature made her a joy to be around, and everyone around her was made to feel special and valued. Despite her outwardly traditional role, make no mistake: Sarah was always in charge, steering her family with grace and love.
