Byron "Bud" Hull Filben, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born on April 5, 1934, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, to the late William and Mabel Filben.
Bud led a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for his family and friends. He dedicated many years of his career as an Operator at Olin Chemical Company, where he worked diligently with much pride.
Outside of work, Bud found joy in various hobbies and interests. He had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to his garden. Bud also enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley, where he showcased his skills and shared laughter with his loved ones. He was a passionate supporter of WVU sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Bud proudly served his country and was honored with the Good Conduct Medal during his time in the US Army. His commitment to duty and service will be remembered with gratitude.
In addition to his parents, Bud is also preceded in death by his brothers John and Kenneth Filben, and his son Byron "Buddy" Filben.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosalie (Burkle) Filben, who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing a lifetime of love and companionship. Bud's children, Gregory (Kerry) Filben of St. Louis, MO, Matthew (Jill) Filben of Morgantown, WV, and Leslie (Pat) Garrett of Glen Dale, WV, and daughter-in-law, Tracey Filben of Glen Dale, WV will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted on each of them.
Bud's legacy lives on through his grand- children, Shelby Garrett, Gregory Painter, Joshua Garrett, Cody Filben, Tanner (Izzie) Filben, Abby Filben, Bailey Filben, and Kailey Filben. Each one carries a piece of his spirit and will remember him as a source of love, guidance, and inspiration.
Services to honor Bud's life will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Moundsville, WV.
In this time of loss, may we find comfort in the knowledge that Bud's spirit will forever remain with us. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will continue to inspire and guide us all. May he rest in eternal peace.
