HUGH PRETTYMAN

Together Again

Hugh Wayne Prettyman passed peacefully on October 31, 2023 at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born in Glendale Hospital on August 25, 1927, son of the late Paul and Lucille (Kern) Prettyman.

He graduated from Union High School in Benwood, WV in 1945 and then from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from college, he was drafted by the U.S. Navy in which he served as an apprentice seaman. Upon his discharge from military service, Hugh worked for forty years at Gee Electric in Wheeling, from which he retired in 1982.

In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Eileen Toth Prettyman, who died in 2019 and a sister Betty Lee McKimme.

He is survived by a sister, Lynette Garnett of Tavares, FL; a nephew Billy Hendrix; nieces Robin Ward, Carole Hanic and Janice Zyryanoff.

Hugh and Eileen were avid ballroom dancers and enjoyed the company of friends and family. Hugh was also an avid reader.

Friends and family will be received on Monday November 6, 2023 from 11:30 am until the time of service at 1:30 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277- 2722). Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
