James Clarke Irwin, 77, of Wheeling, WV, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 10, 2023, after an extended illness.
He was born March 27, 1946, son of the late Nyal and Betty (Rusche) Irwin.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and graduate of West Liberty University. James was a retired letter-carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and seasonal worker at Oglebay Resort.
James was a faithful member of New Life Christian Fellowship in Dallas Pike, WV. He loved his family, friends, golf, and food. He will be remembered for his dedication to his wife, children, and grandkids, his kindness to others, caring for his elderly parents, aunt, and friends, and his wise advice you didn't know he had unless you asked him. One of his favorite phrases was "thank you for your kindness" and he meant it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha (Yahrling) Irwin, whom he shared 53 years of marriage with; twin brother, Alan Irwin; and in-laws, Alan and Dorothy (Cannon) Yahrling.
He is survived by his daughter, Tina (David) Wolf; son, Drew (Shari) Irwin; granddaughters, Maia and Julia Wolf and Kayla Irwin; sister, Jeanette Prout; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Per James' wishes, his body was donated to WVU Human Gift Registry.
