Retta "June" Acree, age 89, of Proctor, WV, passed away November 3, 2023, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, WV, after a brief illness.
She was born September 23, 1934, at her homeplace in Dille, WV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo, and Opal (Brown) Lykins; husband Bonnie Monroe Acree; her oldest son Michael Lee Acree; sister Helen (Larry) Bunfill.
June and Bonnie were married on February 3, 1951, spending part of their lives in Chicago, Illinois where Bonnie served in the military and attended electrical school. They eventually returned to West Virginia, living in Fairmont for a short time before settling along the river in Proctor.

June always "had their backs" and watched them grow into young men which she was most proud of. She is a past member of the Proctor Christian Church and is currently a member of First Baptist Church in New Martinsville.
June loved to travel which included a trip to Europe, various cruises, a road trip to California and back, bus trips, and numerous trips to Myrtle beach. Her last trip was to Richwood, WV to see her brother "Doc's" camp on the Williams River and to see her old home place.
Her "biggest celebration' of the year was Christmas Eve in Proctor. Her house would be full of family and friends with much food and drinks that exhibited her "culinary skills" and Christian Faith, Proctor will be a lot different this Christmas season with June's absence.
