Virginia Ann Harris, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, at WVU Medicine, Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV, at the age of 80.
Virginia was born on February 23, 1943, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Frank and Julia (Mazur) Melko. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working at various health care institutions including Heidelberg, Germany; Reynolds Memorial Hospital; North Wheeling; and Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center.
In addition to her nursing career, Virginia was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. James Catholic Church in McMechen, WV. Her faith was an important part of her life, providing her with strength and guidance throughout the years.
Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Nicholas M. Harris Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her children, Kevin (Marla) Harris, Bruce (Elaina) Harris, and Jennifer (Steve) Storch; her sister, Deborah (Kenn) Mills; her grandchildren, Stephen (Taylor) Storch, Cannon Harris, Micki Harris, Maddi Harris, Jessica (Alex) Ayers, Kylie (Shawn) Tustin, and Kate Lovinski; and her great-grandchildren, Jade and Vera Lena.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Bishops Chapel of Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, WV, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:00am, with Father Jim McCafferty and Father Tom Dagle as Celebrants and Deacon Doug Breiding assisting. Following the Mass, Virginia will be laid to rest in the Garden Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary.
