CAROL LEYLAND

She was born in Wheeling, WV, on August 30, 1939, daughter of the late Harold and Anna Albright Grella Forshey.

Carol was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where she was a member of Christian Mothers. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. Carol worked for many years at Horne’s Department Store in Wheeling. She loved playing Canasta with her “canasta family” from card club. She also loved playing all kinds of board games with her family and she usually always won. She was a card shark. She loved all animals.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Leyland (1/2004); and her grandson, Phillip “Flipper Daniel” Pritt.

Surviving are her three daughters, Laura A. (Danny) Pritt of Wheeling, WV, Carrie L. (Michael) Simons of Franklin, PA, Leslie C. Leyland of Wheeling, WV; two sons, Troy A. Leyland of Columbus, OH, Sean C. Leyland of Glen Dale, WV; five grandchildren, Matthew and Derek Pritt, Brienna Simons, Blake Leyland, and Seanna Leyland; one sister, Sue (Bill) Lebeda of Imperial, PA; a nephew, Nathan Rothermund; and a niece, Kristen Marraccini.

Friends will be received at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722) on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 4-8 pm.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 10 am with Father Joseph Wiley and Deacon John Soplinski officiating.

Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and the staff from Hospice for the care Carol received from them all. It was greatly appreciated.
