Clarence "Bill" West, 73, of Moundsville, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at WVU-Wheeling Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1950 in Glen Dale, WV son of the late William and Tessie Johnson West.
Bill was an avid fisherman, hunter, and a big fan of the Mountaineers and Steelers. He was a member of the John Marshall Class of 1969.
In his younger days, he loved to play and coach baseball and softball. He dedicated many years of his life working at Fostoria Glass, Shoemaker Coal Mine, Universal Painting, Destefano Painting, and eventually retiring from United Dairy.
After his retirement, he focused his life on his grandchildren and all the activities in which they participated.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Pamela Wood West; mother and father in-law, Buck and Edna Wood; a sister, Barbara Updegraff.; and a brother-in-law, Jim Updegraff.
Survivors include two daughters, April (Chad) Sheets of Drummonds, TN and Billie Jo (Josh Powers) West of Glen Dale; a sister: Linda (Bubby) Aston of Cameron; his one and only granddaughter, Taylor West; his three grandsons, Xander Powers, Race and Ryder Sheets; sister-in-law, Robin Wood; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends at the Wesley Park Community.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Ash Ave. Church of God, 127 Ash Ave., Moundsville, where he was an active member, with Pastor C.J. Plogger officiating.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ash Avenue Church of God Youth Center.
