EUGENE GRIZZEL
Eugene Grizzel, 96, of Beech Bottom, WV, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, at Liza’s Place-Valley Hospice Care Center South in Wheeling, WV. Born on April 12, 1927, Eugene lived a remarkable life filled with love, dedication and service.
During his working years, Eugene served as a Mine Foreman, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and professionalism.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Eugene found joy in playing Bunco with the ladies, a game that brought laughter and friendship into his life.
Eugene proudly served in the US Navy during World War II, earning the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal for his honorable service.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Nora (Anderson) Grizzel; his beloved wife, Margaret (Scott) Grizzel (2011); three brothers, John, Luther II, and Robert Grizzel; and three sisters, Bobbie Joyner, Dorothy Kruger, and Leona Grizzel.
Eugene is survived by his four sons, Eugene (Barbara) Grizzel of Wellston, OH, Stephen (Lisa) Grizzel of Wellsburg, WV, Ronald (Jackie) Grizzel of Raleigh, NC, and Mark (Holly Maroney) Grizzel of Wellsburg, WV. Additionally, he leaves behind five grand- children, twelve great- grandchildren, and seven great-great- grandchildren.
A service will be held at the convenience of the family at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery in Beech Bottom, WV with the assistance of Altmeyer Funeral Homes.
Eugene’s family would like to share their gratitude for the care and comfort their father received from all of the staff at Liza’s Place. They made an incredibly difficult time much more manageable.
