Robert (Bob) Earl Steele passed away December 14, 2023, in his home.
Bob was born November 26, 1936, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Andrew Thomas and Georgia Davis Steele.
Bob was a retired pilot with Ohio Coal and an inventor and entrepreneur at heart. While retired, Bob invented Lanai Lights and with the help of his son established his legacy in the field of outdoor lighting. Subsequently, his grandsons joined the business where they all worked together until his death. If you asked Bob, this joint adventure with his son and grandsons was his greatest joy.
He was also a U.S. Marine veteran who loved his country and God. All who met Bob would comment on his kindness and patience. His joy for life was evident in all his interests and he was always trying to make this world a better place. There was never an unkind word said about him; everyone loved Bob.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Margaret Rosemeier Steele; son, Jeff (Lisa) Steele of Fort Myers, FL; 2 grandsons, Zachary Scott (girlfriend, Jessica Dorsey) Steele and Christopher Joseph (Kelsey) Steele both of Fort Myers, FL. Both grandsons will continue with the tradition of carrying on the business of outdoor lighting their grandfather started.
A celebration of life will be held on a date to be determined in Fort Myers, FL. Arrangements were made by Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling WV (304-242-2311).
Memorial contributions may be made to any veterans association of the donor's choice.
