RONALD GARTEN

Ronald Zane Garten, 86, of Moundsville, WV passed away in Louisiana on December 13, 2023 with his devoted son by his side.

Ronald was born February 18, 1937 to the late Otie Carl and Stella Ann (Miller) Garten in Pence Springs, WV.

After high school, Ronald served his country in the U.S. Army. A Baptist by faith, Ronald was a member of the Moundsville Baptist Church, where he proudly served as a Deacon. He retired after 30 years with the former Clevite Corporation but he did not stay retired long; he went on to work with Dr. Anwar and Northern Panhandle Head Start. He lived a full life marked by faith, family and hard work.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his wife and mother of their son, Darlene Leach Garten; his second wife, Bonnie Sue Matthias; his brothers, Harold "Woofy", Garland, Kenneth and Alvin Garten; as well as his sisters, Adena Maddy, Opal Wilson and Clorice Harris.

Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy is his son, Shawn (Carole) Garten; his sister, Lorene Cales; granddaughter, Taylor (Mark) Harrington; and great- grandchildren, Catherine and Arthur.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Altmeyer Funeral Home on Grant Ave. in Moundsville from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Internment will be at Riverview Cemetery beside his beloved Darlene.
