Alberta Medovic, 88, of Wheeling, WV, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL. She was born on September 11, 1935, in Benwood, WV.
Alberta had a fulfilling career, having worked for many years and retired as the head bookkeeper of Convenient Food Store chain. She also dedicated her time to being a co-owner and employee of True Value Hardware Store and the UPS Store on Washington Avenue in Wheeling. Her hard work and dedication were admired by all who knew her.
Alberta was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1953, where she received an excellent education. She cherished the memories and friendships made during her school days.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ann (Melko) Callendar, as well as her loving husband, William Medovic. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her surviving family and friends.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her two daughters, Deby (Jim) Smith of Wheeling, WV, and Phyllis (David) Brautigan of Fort Myers, FL. Additionally, her son Marty (Janet) Medovic of Wheeling, WV, and daughter-in-law Joyce Medovic of Goosecreek, SC, will lovingly remember her.
Alberta's greatest joy came from being a grandmother to her eleven grandchildren: Michelle (Chad) Lemmon of Sherrard, WV, Melissa (Chris) Sarkis of Bridgeville, PA, Britney (Josh) Brown of Fate, TX, Bill (Brittany) Medovic of Goosecreek, SC, Jennifer (Cliff) Weddington of Williamsburg, VA, Houston Brautigan (fiancee, Angela Delise) of Jarrell, TX, Elizabeth Brautigan of Niles, MI, Cody Brautigan of Denver, CO, Zachary Medovic, Amanda Medovic (fiancee, Noah Hilton), and William Medovic of Wheeling, WV.
In addition, she was blessed with nine special great-grandchil- dren: Mason and Audrey Lemmon, Matthew and Anthony Sarkis, Hunter, Aubree and Vivian Medovic, Kendall Brown, and Sophia Brautigan. She adored each and every one of them.
Alberta will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her kindness, love, and warm spirit. May she rest in eternal peace.
Friends will be received from 1-6 pm, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. A vigil service will be held at 5 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Joseph Augustine as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
