Betty A. Burkett, age 85, of Moundsville, WV died Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, OH.
She was born November 21, 1938 in Glen Dale, WV the daughter of the late Robert and Gail Bursey Simsa.
She was a member of 1st Christian Church; a retired nurse from Reynolds Memorial Hospital; a Board Member of Marshall County Animal Rescue League; and was Secretary of the Board of Federal Organization of Humane Societies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Burkett; a daughter, Stephanie Kim Ludwig; and son-in- aw, Francis L. Ludwig.
Survivors include a son, David (Joan) Burkett; four grandchildren, Alyssa (Jason) Hackathorn, Ashley Burkett, April Burkett, and Alexa (Joshua) Burkett- Stevey; five great- grandchildren,; a brother, Robert Simsa; her cats, Jimmy, Tommy and Dennis; and her dog, Lucy.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11am at First Christian Church, 3rd St. & Grant Ave., Moundsville with Rev. Wesley Howsare officiating.
