CHRISTINA KOVALCHIE

Christina "Tina" Kay Wilke Kovalchie, 76, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Wheeling Hospital.

She was born in Wheeling, WV, on May 15, 1947, daughter of the late Edward C. and Anna Mae Grove Wilke.

Tina retired from Kroger as a supervisor at the St. Clairsville store. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She did everything for John, was a good baker and cook, known for her famous nut rolls. Tina loved to crochet, take pictures and make photo calendars.

Christina Kovalchie had a special heart and was cherished by many. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews and provided unconditional love, support and comfort to them. She will be missed by many!

In addition to her parents, Tina is preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Ehler, Marianne La Ruffo, Beverly Handley; and one brother, Charles Wilke.

Surviving is her loving husband of 43 years, John "Sonny" "Red" S. Kovalchie; one brother, Ronald (Linda) Wilke; one son, Scott (Robin) Bumgardner; one step son, John (Kim) Kovalchie, IV; sister-in- law, Nancy (Dave) Barnett; several nieces and nephews, including: Edward Ehler, twin nieces, Cheryl (Brent) Collins and Carol (Bill) O'Connell, Jackie (Brian Hampp) Teasdale; several grand- children and great grandchildren and her loving dog, Annie.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a Christian wake service at 7:30 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father Paul Cabrita as celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tina's honor to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1225 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
