Ernest R. "Ernie" Burky, age 67 years, a resident of Dry Fork, WV, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2023 in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born August 3, 1956 at Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Herbert Erwin Burky and the late Hazel Booth Burky. On June 4, 1977 at Dry Fork, he was married to Joyce Ann Bonner who survives at Dry Fork. Also surviving is one son, Christopher Ernest Burky, Morgantown, WV; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Burky, Dry Fork and Melissa Rae Burky Albaugh of Fairmont, WV. Two brothers, Alvin J. Burky, Pickens, WV and Herman J. Burky of Elkins; two sisters, Linda Burky Smith, Fountain, CO and Evelyn Burky Howell, Beverly, WV and two grandchildren also survive. Ernie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and was employed as a Civil Engineer for Vaughn, Coast and Vaughn Engineering Company and attended Roney's Point United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Water Works Association, the WV WEA and the Water Environment Federation. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Saturday, January 6th, Ernie will be moved to the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Pastor Robert Yothers, Jr will officiate and interment will follow in the Mick Cemetery at Dry Fork. Memorial contributions may be made to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Ernie.
