FRANCIS HANLIN SR.

Francis Earl Hanlin, Sr., 94, of Moundsville, WV went to be with Jesus on Friday, January 26, 2024, at home.

He was born on August 30, 1929 in Wheeling, WV to the late Alex & Martha (Curry) Hanlin.

Francis was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship church and the American Legion. He was a United States Marine and served as an MP during the Korean War, stationed in Virginia Beach.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Ruckh) Hanlin; and his siblings, Robert Hanlin, Lionel Hanlin, Stewart Hanlin, Charles Hanlin, Charlotte Nixon, Betty Bohlman, and Jeanette Warner; and a step great-grandchild, Katlyn.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Susan Birch, Francis "Duke" Hanlin, Jr (Debbie), Tim Hanlin (Denise); his granddaughter, Chrystal (Jason) Webb; step-grandchildren, Deborah K and Crystal; great- grandsons, Christopher (Megan) Birch and Joshua Grandstaff; step great-grandchild, Elizabeth; four great-great-grandchildren, Braxton, Luke, Jacob and Meredith; four step great-great-grandchildren, Piper, Josiah, Salem, and Kayden; many nieces and nephews and his loving companion for 16 years, his dog Pierre.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 to 7 p.m., with funeral service to take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10 a.m., at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling, WV 304-242-2311. Pastor Gino Vercelloti and Ed Meekins to officiate. Interment to follow at Short Creek Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, OH.
