Nellie Pozell, of Washington Lands, died Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Alleghany General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
She was born March 22, 1932 in Captina, WV; the daughter of the late Thomas and Osa Mae Murray Grimm.
She was married to Larry Pozell Jr. in March 1950 and was happily married until Larry's death on September 29, 2021.
She loved every aspect of homemaking, gardening, and managing a budget. She was resourceful and practical, and loved a challenge.
Nellie was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and a longtime member of the Moundsville Congregation. She especially loved the 23rd Psalm: Jehovah was truly Nellie's Shepherd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Pozell Jr; three sisters; one brother; two daughters, Barbara Helen Pozell and Joyce Dian Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Christy (Bob) Dickerson of Moundsville, Debra Fritzpatrick of Wheeling, a son-in-law, David Smith of Nashville, TN; her loving and devoted brother, Jim Grimm of Moundsville; her sisters-in-law, Angie (George) Stankas of Enon, OH and Ella Pozell of Anderson, NC; 8 grandchildren, six great – grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was blessed with wonderful neighbors and friends in the Washington Lands community, and her family is grateful for their support and kindness.
Private interment will be held by the family in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
