RICHARD BAKER

Richard Paul Baker, 96, of Wheeling went home to the Lord on Monday January 22, 2024 surrounded by family.

He was born in Wheeling on June 26, 1927 son of the late Harley and Amy (Krogel) Baker.

At age 17 Richard enlisted in the US Navy, served in WWII and remained in Tokyo post war for humanitarian efforts. He spent his career as a successful salesman earning many awards and accolades. He loved spending time with his family, fishing and turkey hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Everett and Herbert.

Richard is survived by his wife of 76 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Morris) Baker; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Appenzeller, Barbara Baker; grandchildren, David (Lori) Meyer, Amie Meyer, Sara (Aaron) Halaja, Joshua Reass; great-grandchildren, Katie, Allison, Everett, Reese and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Friday January 26, 2024 from 2 - 4 and again from 6 - 8 at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242- 2311) where services will be held on Saturday at 1 pm with Margie Carr and Pastor David Meyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Amedisys Hospice or your local Animal Shelter.
