Virginia M. Magers, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 3, 2024, at the age of 93.
Born on February 4, 1930, in Buckhannon, WV, Virginia touched the lives of many with her unwavering love and dedication to her family and community.
Throughout her life, Virginia found solace and strength in her faith, as she was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Wheeling, WV. She also actively participated in Tops #205 of Moundsville and the Women's Club of Wheeling, cherishing the bonds she formed with fellow members and contributing to the betterment of her community.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elsie (Burley) Abplanalp Sr., as well as her loving husband, Robert L. Magers. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bob Curtis, and her sisters, Marlin Yost and Lola Johnson. In addition, she was predeceased by her step-brother, Harry Abplanalp Jr., and step-sister, Ruth Kidwell.
Family meant everything to Virginia, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her children: Bill (Mary Sue) Magers of Glen Dale, WV; Debbie Magers of Moundsville, WV; and Mimi (Richard) Logston of Glen Dale, WV. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, James (Nancy) Curtis of Gallipolis, OH, and her brother-in-law, David Yost of Leon, WV.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her cousin, Rodger Haberfield, along with her grandchildren, Jason Magers and Amy Magers (Josh Bogard), and her great-grand children, Tyler and Colton Criado. She is also survived by eight nieces and four nephews, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Services to honor and celebrate Virginia's life will be held at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 7, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., as well as on Monday, January 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest at the Fork Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Glen Easton, WV.
Virginia M. Magers was an extraordinary woman who exemplified love, compassion, and dedication to her family. While we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful memories she has left behind.
