Frank B. Wojcik, 99, peacefully passed away at Liza's Place with his family by his side on February 10, 2024. Frank was born June 22, 1924, in Wheeling, WV, the son of the late John and Anna (Pachoriek) Wojcik.
Frank was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was a crane operator at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant, retiring after 39 years. He enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard, taking walks around Oglebay Park, and listening to polkas every Sunday. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
He served with the US Army's 29th Division, 116th Infantry Regiment landing on Omaha Beach, D-Day, June 6, 1944. Franke served in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland. He was awarded the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Occupation of Germany Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Marksman Rifle Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Frances "Mitzi" (Schrock) Wojcik; sons Frank Wojcik, John Wojcik, and daughter Becky (B. William) Cuchta; grandchildren Beau Cuchta, Dane Cuchta, Lauren Cuchta, and great-grandson Myles Cuchta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by close-knit siblings, brothers John, Joseph, Stanley, Stephen, and sisters Jenny and Wanda.
He had great love as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed.
Services for Frank will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 15 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Sebastian as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
