NORMAN GREENAN JR.

Norman F. Greenan, Jr., age 95, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in WVU Wheeling Hospital.

He was born January 9, 1929, in Moundsville, WV the son of the late Norman and Mabel Furbee Greenan.

He was a US Army Veteran, having enlisted in 1946; a 1953 Marshall College graduate and TKE Fraternity member, having received his personal management degree; a retired foreman for Allied/Olin Chemical, after 30 years of service; and a Baptist by faith.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #3 and VFW #437, both of Moundsville; a member of Marshall Union Lodge #8 AF& AM, and Scottish Rite of Wheeling.

Norman played short stop for the American Legion Baseball Team; outfielder for the Moundsville High School Baseball Team; outfielder for Budroy's for 5 years; outfielder for Marshall College for 3 years, and Moundsville Pepsi Baseball Team outfielder for 6 years.

He was twice scouted to play baseball for the Boston Red Sox, the first time was after his Army Service and then again after his college graduation; but decided to stay home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Lou Greenan.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Petri and Colleen Shelden, both of Wheeling; two sons, Bill (Gwen) Greenan of Las Vegas, NV and Joe (Robin) Greenan of Moreno Valley, CA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 11am until time of funeral service at 1pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville with Rev. Tony Romano officiating and the Moundsville Honor Guard conducting military services.

Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.
