Patricia Ann Loder Chuckery, resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, died at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Patty, loving wife and mother, was born April 25, 1950 in Charleston, WV to the late Hugh and Marie Loder.
After moving to Wheeling, WV in the 8th grade, Patty attended St. Michael's Parochial Grade School and graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Patty enjoyed her very active years at Central participating in many activities including: president of the pep club, tennis team, junior town meeting, Dramatics, Sodality, Sodality Convention, Melodiers, Glee Club, WVEA Delegates, bowling, swimming, Christophers, and class officer.
After graduating high school, Patty attended Wheeling College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She pursued a Masters in Counseling and Guidance. While attending Wheeling College, she was President of the Student Body, played tennis as a member of the boy's team, and helped produce a TV show called "To Whom It May Concern".
After living in New York City and Boston, Patty returned to Wheeling where she worked at a very fulfilling social work career with Family Services where she aided in the care of the elderly of Wheeling.
In her later years Patty really enjoyed thrift shopping and going to neighborhood yard sales.
Patty met her loving husband, Jim in October, 1975 at a polka dance. Three years later, the couple committed their lives to each other in marriage. They were fortunate enough to spend 49 Valentine's Days together with their last, February 14, 2024, being their most special as they exchanged loving cards, kisses and "I love you" for the last time.
In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by 3 siblings:Hugh Loder, Susan Mansuetto and Elizabeth Ferguson; 3 infant daughters: Ellen Elizabeth, Martha Kate and Julie Marie.
Her memory and life will continue to be celebrated by her loving and devoted husband, James Chuckery, son, Jonathan (Megan), grandsons, Joshua Thomas and Benjamin James as well as siblings Bill (Diane) Loder and Mary (Randy) Bassett, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation to honor and remember Patty will take place on Thursday, February 22 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home – Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003.
On Friday, February 23rd, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the chapel at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling at 1 p.m. with Reverend Joel Grissom officiating.
There will be a private entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a date and time to be determined by the family.
