Allan Creighton Holmes, graced with 90 years upon this earth, was gathered to the Lord's embrace on March 10, 2024. Born November 2, 1933 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, Allan's life was a testament to the virtues of humility, kindness, and faith in God. He sought to uplift those around him, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Allan served his country with honor in the Navy during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he married Patricia Ann Dougherty on April 29, 1953. They were blessed with 63 wonderful years of marriage, four children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After his military service, Allan's vocational path led him to a career in sales. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as drawing and painting. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Allan will be reunited in the kingdom of heaven with his treasured wife Patricia; his parents, Clyde and Margaret; brother, Donald and wife Lucy; sisters, Margaret Faye and husband George, Ethel, Delores and husband Donald, Barbara, and Gloria Jane; niece, Judy; and nephews, George, Brady, Rick, and Richard.
Allan is survived by his loving family; his children, Cathy (Britt), Allan Jr. (Jan), James, and Edward. Nancy 'CiCi' Ciancetta, our angel on earth; his precious grandchildren, Mandy, Katie, Molly, Josh, Shane (Jessica), Eric (Shannon), Jeremy (Lauren), Aaron (Kristin) and Sean (Amber); and great-grandchildren, Daisy, Zula, Zayden, Alison, Natalie, Noah, Davis, Austin, Kevin, Tyler, Azley, and Addison; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, Bonnie, Suzanne, Jeanette (Paul), Linda (Rick), Donna, Susan, Cliff, Michelle (Bobby), Karen, George (Jennifer), Gary (Barb), Richard (Vicki), Vicki and Monica; and brother-in-law Ronald.
A service will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Arnold officiating at Parkview Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311).
