GEORGE “BOB” PHILABAUM JR.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of George "Bob" Robert Philabaum Jr, 86, of Wheeling, West Virginia. He passed Sunday morning, March 24, 2024. George is preceded in death by his parents George and Clara Philabaum, his son Robert Philabaum, his sister Margretta (late Edward) Garbark, and Patricia (Letzelter – Philabaum) Long.

He is survived by his daughters Melissa Nelson (Michael), Kathryn Noblit (Christopher), and Tamara Davis (Edward). Grandfather to Cecilia, Joseph, Maggie, Andrew, and Grace Nelson, and Taylor, Ashley, Dalton, Hailey, Cooper, and Finley Noblit.

George is the beloved brother to Patricia Arnett (Jim), and is the uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many friends who were like family to him.

George was a man who could fix anything and never let his physical limitations stop him. He enjoyed a number of things from classical music and his time at The Pittsburgh Playhouse, to years of work at his Sunoco service station, gardening, cooking, and tinkering with cars.

He will be greatly missed by so many.

A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday April 16, 2024 at 10 am for friends and family. The service will be held at Corpus Christi Church in Warwood, West Virginia. A celebration of George's life will be held following the service.
