Betty Jane Hercules, age 76, of Mozart, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born May 3, 1947, in Wheeling, daughter of the late Jesse and Rebecca Mercer Smith.
She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mozart; Girl Scout leader for over 30 years; enjoyed decorating cakes, doing puzzles, & crafting; she was a loving & caring wife, mother, & grandmother and enjoyed taking care of everyone she knew.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Mauritz "Bud" Hercules, Jr.; infant son: Wayne Hercules; one grandson: Bradley Miller; and two brothers: Dale & Jonnie Lee Smith.
Survivors include four daughters: Tina (Darrell) Hercules Sprout, Tammy (Ron) McFadden, Tracy (John) Miller, and Theresa (Brad) Costain, all of Wheeling; ten grandchildren: Shawn, Tylor, Lachawn, Devin (Alexa), John, Emily (Tyler), Seth, Abby, Zachary, and Jeremiah; eight great-grandchild ren: Mercedise, Marshall, Colton, Carson, Jax, Mackenzie, Elizabeth, & Grace; brother: James Smith; several nieces and nephews; two half-brothers: Dave (Janie) Williams & Robert (Audrey) Williams; and one half-sister: Sue (Kirt) Ryberg.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/Wheeling, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11am with Bishop Ralph Dunkin officiating.
Interment in Parkview Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
