Helen Gretchen Kacor, age 91, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at New Martinsville Health Care Center.
She was born February 11, 1933, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Dr. Edward L. and Angela C. Coniff Kaufman.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, New Martinsville. She volunteered at New Martinsville Elementary School, St. Vincent de Paul School, Wetzel County Hospital and bereavement luncheons at the church. She loved to Polka. She was a seamstress, making many dresses for her daughters, often sewing the hems as they walked out the door.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Charlotte Ankrom, Jane Floto, Mary Lee Cannon and Angela Kaufman; and two sons-in-law, Gerald Kooser and Bill Stewart.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Theodore "Ted" Kacor; six children, Becky Kooser of Katy, TX, Karen Stewart of Morgantown, WV, Debbie (Percy) Talkington of New Martinsville, John (Mindy) Kacor of New Martinsville, Gretchen (Rob) Fauber of Cibolo, TX and Tom Kacor of New Martinsville, WV. 11 grandchildren, Erin Daugherty, Tyler Kooser, Kelly Dyer, Blaine Stewart, Ted Talkington, Rachel Kocher, Katy Roush, Brendan & Jared Kacor, Matthew & Mitchell Fauber; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, where Rosary Devotions will be recited Thursday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 21 Rosary Road New Martinsville, WV, with Msgr. Kevin Quirk as celebrant.
The family would like to thank the staff of the New Martinsville Health Care Center for the care given to Gretchen.
Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery New Martinsville, WV.
