John Paul Florio, 79, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, April 13, 2024.
He was born April 26, 1944, son of the late Michael, Sr. and Beulah Montgomery Florio.
John was a graduate of Wheeling High, where he was a star basketball player. He was a Catholic by faith, U.S. Army veteran and retired as a rigger from Weirton Steel. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved playing cards and chess.
John was an excellent and loving father and grandfather and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his friend, Vivian "Bebe" Musilli; granddaughter, Alexis Coppa; and great-grandson, Evan McMahon.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol Florio and Joyce (Tony) Coppa; a brother, Michael Florio, Jr.; two grandchildren, Julie Florio and Andrea (Kody) Griffith; five great-grandchildren, Adam, Silas, Hudson, Quinton and Bailey; a niece; and two nephews.
Per John's wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
