MaBelle (Hanley) Sligar, 97, of Wheeling passed away on Friday April 19, 2024.
She was born on September 30, 1926, in Wheeling, daughter of the late John Barry and Hazel (Bower) Hanley.
She was a member of Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church where she was a former deacon. She was a member of Beth Acres Garden Club, Thursday Music Club, Happy Hilltoppers and loved her Bunco Club.
She was formerly an employee of the John S. Naylor Co. in Wheeling and Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and son to Canada for many years for a fishing vacation. She also traveled to many countries with friend Ida Fedrke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David "Bert" Sligar; a sister, Consuelo Newsome; step grandchild, Dale Hancher.
MaBelle is survived by her son, David Bert Sligar (Easter) of Valley Grove, WV; grandson, Brian Sligar (Gwen) of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Sherry Sligar; nieces, Debra Beaver, Janis Holden, Davida Ankeny and nephews, Cliff & Bill Sligar.
Services and interment will be private for family members only in Greenwood Cemetery.
