Gregory Wayne Walker, affectionately known as "G-Daddy," passed away on May 28, 2024, at the age of 65 at Select Specialty Hospital in Wheeling, WV. Born on June 25, 1958, in Wheeling, Gregory lived a life rich in love, family, and community.
Gregory was a passionate sports enthusiast, whose interests included basketball, softball, R&B music, and loyal support for the New York Knicks and Cleveland Browns. He was a celebrated member of the 1973 Cathedral Championship Team and proudly part of the first graduating class (1976) of Wheeling Park High School. G-Daddy will be remembered as a solid member of The Players Club.
Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rose Marie (Cobbs) Walker; long-time girlfriend of over 30 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Brothers; and grandparents, George and Mary Walker and Henry and Creola Claytor, and his beloved fur-baby, Sadie Girl, Gregory is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life is his devoted father, Thomas Allen Walker; siblings Delores (Rodney) Jenkins, Yvonne (Cornell) Stradwick, Brian (Stacy) Walker, Sr., Dana (Victor) Walker, and Eric Walker. He also leaves behind his three daughters, Sherrice Sinclair, Ashley (George) Byrd, and Courtney O'Connell, 6 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate G-Daddy's life on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, continuing on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. Pastor Anthony Stradwick will be the Celebrant.
