JAMES JANECZKO

James Elwood Janeczko, 60, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Wheeling Continuous Care Center after a prolonged but determined hard-fought battle, all the while surrounded by many wonderful caregivers.

He was born on September 29, 1963, in Wheeling, WV to the late Ruth Dunn and Casimer "Casey" Janeczko, Sr., and named after his maternal grandfather and Dr. George Elwood Strobel, the physician who delivered him and his six siblings.

Jim was a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Las Vegas Raiders, and the New York Mets. He was a movie buff--always knew the name and main actors in most movies. His favorite movie was Paint Your Wagon. When music was playing, he would get up and dance--he had the moves. Some of his favorite songs were by Pink Floyd. Jim enjoyed throwing darts, shooting pool, but more than not he was at his most content sitting by the water, casting doughball with dreams of landing a trophy fish, especially for a friend's promised fish fry. Jim served in the U.S. Marines and worked at Russell Nesbitt Services for nearly 28 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Cora Dunn; brother, Casimer "Jerry" Janeczko, Jr.; brother-in-law, Sonny Palmer; and niece, Korin Palmer.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Cathy Whipkey; son, Dylan Janeczko; brother, David (Cara-Lyn) Janeczko; sisters, Deborah Palmer, Karen (Tom) Miller, Susan (Tom) Wilson, and his twin, Teresa (Scott) Hughes; sister-in-law, Eloise Janeczko; many nieces and nephews; his special friends, Janice Whipkey, Vern Shaffer, Betty Nice, and Carol Pethel; along with many beloved clients from Russell Nesbitt.

Per Jim's wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life with extended family is planned for a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311). Condolences may be left for the family at www.kepnerfuneral.com
