Josephine Lorraine Smith, 94, born on December 2, 1929, in Wheeling, WV, passed away on April 26, 2024, at Moundsville Healthcare Center in Moundsville, WV.
Josephine led a fulfilling life as a retired bookkeeper for the former Markette Advertisers. She found joy in cooking delicious meals, delving into history, and exploring various destinations through her travels. Her dedication to Corpus Christi Catholic Church and membership at the former Sacred Heart reflected her strong faith and sense of community.
Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Allen Smith, her parents Joseph & Katherine (Krupka) Wiencek, and her infant son Richard Allen Smith. She is survived by her children Colleen (Dennis) Pickens of Wheeling, Patricia Smith of Wheeling, Michael (Cheryl) Smith of St. Clairsville, OH, and Daniel Smith of Wheeling. She also leaves behind grandchildren James Pickens of Virginia, Jenny Regal of Wheeling, John Harvey of Columbus, OH, Kate Ernest of Weirton, WV, and Joseph Smith of Columbus, as well as great-grandchildren Cole Regal, Keira Regal, Nora Ernest, and Ruby Ernest.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Bishop's Chapel at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with interment to follow.
