WARREN FORTNEY

Graveside funeral services with military honors celebrating Warren Eugene "Butch" Fortney, 74, of Newark, will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 12:15 P.M. Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Butch passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 9, 2024. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on December 7, 1949, to the late Cecil Junior and Louise (Hull) Fortney Butch. Although Butch lived in many other places, the love he had for his hometown never waned and in 2013 he formed the East Wheeling Reunion Association to bring together others who shared his love for Wheeling.

Butch was many things in his lifetime, a mailman for 26 years, a fire boss in the coal mine, and a Sergeant in the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. But most of all, he was a family man.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years Mary Ann; his daughters Michelle (John) Cordone and Marcie (Miguel) Morra-Pineda; his son, Frank Fortney; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Edgell, Gary Fortney, Debbie Craps, and Walter Fortney.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his daughter Heather Dawn; and sister Patty Ohlinger.
